Alfred J. Novak, President and CEO, Novoste Corporation
Chairman of the Board


Mr. Novak has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of ProRhythm, Inc. since December 1997. Since September 1999, Mr. Novak has been a director on the board of OrbusNeich Medical Technology Company, Ltd., a privately held interventional cardiology company. He was a founding member of Syntheon, LLC, a privately held company that focuses on minimally invasive medical devices for the gastroenterology and vascular markets. From October 2002 until March 2006, Mr. Novak was the President and Chief Executive Officer and director of Novoste Corporation, a publicly held interventional cardiology company. From December 1998 until October 2002, Mr. Novak was a member of the Board of Directors of Sutura, Inc., a vascular closure company. Mr. Novak was President, Chief Executive Officer and director of Biosense, Inc., an electrophysiology company, from July 1996 until January, 1998. He was employed by Cordis Corporation, a publicly held cardiology company, from April 1984 until July 1996 and served as its Vice President and Chief Financial Office. Mr. Novak received his B.S. from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in 1969, and his M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1974.

 

Reinhard J. Warnking, President and Chief Executive Officer, Prorhythm, Inc.

Mr. Warnking joined ProRhythm, Inc. as President and CEO in February 2001. Prior to ProRhythm, Mr. Warnking was President and CEO and later Chairman and CEO of EndoSonics, Corp. Endosonics was acquired by Jomed in October 2000. Prior to Endosonics, Mr Warnking was President and CEO of Acoustic Imaging Technology Corporation, a manufacturer of ultrasound imaging systems, a division of Dornier Medizintechnik GmbH. He was responsible for the development of Warnking Medizintechnik, a German ultrasound company, which was acquired by Dornier in 1990. Prior to that Mr. Warnking held numerous management positions in the U.S. and Europe with ATL, ADR and Squibb Medical Systems. Mr. Warnking holds a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from RWTH Aachen, Germany.

 

Nancy M. Briefs, President and Cheif Executive Officer, Percardia, Inc.

Ms. Briefs serves as President & CEO of Elemé Medical, Inc. Elemé is a privately funded emerging Aesthetic Company with headquarters in New Hampshire for this Delaware Corporation. Ms. Briefs is a serial entrepreneur and has spent 25+ years building shareholder value by raising venture and public financing to commercialize innovative new technologies at companies such as: Percardia, Vista Medical Technologies, Stryker Corp, Target Therapeutics and Edwards Lifesciences. In addition to serving as Chairman of the BOD of MDMA (Medical Device and Manufacturers Association), Ms. Briefs serves on the Board of Directors for: SmoothShapes, Direct Flow Medical, Percardia and ProRhythm Inc. Ms. Briefs earned a Master of Business Administration from Golden Gate University, a Bachelor of Science in Business and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Emporia State University, Kansas.

 

Ting Pau Oei, Partner, L Capital Partners SBIC, LP

Ting Pau Oei is a Partner of L Capital Partners SBIC, L.P. and leads the firm’s efforts in healthcare investments. Mr. Oei joined L Capital Partners, a diversified $160 million venture capital fund established in 2004. Mr. Oei has 13 years of venture capital healthcare investing experience. Mr. Oei joined L Capital Partners after a career of 22 years at Johnson & Johnson including Johnson and Johnson Development Corporation (JJDC), J&J’s venture capital arm. Mr. Oei has made over 50 venture capital investments in a wide variety of emerging private and public biopharmaceutical, medical device, diagnostic and healthcare services companies. Mr. Oei has also been on the boards of directors of over 20 different venture backed companies. Mr. Oei is a member of the BIO’s Emerging Company Investor Forum’s Advisory Board.

Mr. Oei’s 35 years of experience in the healthcare industry include positions in general management, marketing, sales, business development, M&A, and licensing at J&J, Abbott Laboratories, American Cyanamid and Merck & Co. Mr. Oei received his undergraduate degree from Union College (N.Y.) and MBA from Columbia Business School.

 

Oded Weiss, Partner and CFO, L Capital Partners SBIC, LP

Mr. Weiss provides day-to-day oversight of the fund's operations and provides support for individual deals within the firm. Prior to L Capital Partners, he was the CFO of Shalom Equity Fund; the vice president of finance and operations at Mantero USA, the U.S. subsidiary of Italy's high-end fabric maker Mantero Seta, S.p.A.; and a senior auditor in Deloitte & Touche, LLP's international department. Mr. Weiss has a B.A. in accounting and economics from Queens College, and is a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
